Its an interesting point. When people want to inflate figures they firstly lower the standards of a lesser offence then tag it to the more serious offence

An example is when governments say 10,000 were killed or injured on the roads last year. Its the 10,000 figure tagged to the word "killed" that goes all over the media and into peoples heads, but what they don't say is that under 1,000 were killed and standards of "injured" were so low in the 9000 that somebody falling off a bicycle and going to hospital with bruised ribs will be included.

I get what this is meant to do and yes a lot of the things listed aren't sexual assault but they still list things that depending on the context would make anyone uncomfortable like hugging if your friend or family hugs you that's one thing but if some random stranger runs up and hugs you don't think that would make anyone comfortable

Yes I agree that people need to define what had happened wether it's sexual assault or harasment but this kinda feels like it's just brushing peoples actual concerns to the side because my girlfriend for example has an anxiety disorder and some stranger walking up and huging her or putting their hand on her shoulder would almost certainly cause a panic attack and just not end well

Can it be just assault if you don't find it sexual.

Like is the sexual part determined by the victim. So like In court do you have to prove the alleged assulter was sexually arose for it to be sexual assault.
