I didn't see this book on the recommended reading list, so wanted to suggest it as another tool for leveling up. For some background, I divorced my lv ex about 2 years ago, but I spent decades in fear of ever leaving - I was afraid I'd be forever alone and no guy would ever want me and I'd be living under a bridge. Just this paralyzing fear that a drowned out with alcohol and gaming. This was supported by growing up in an abusive household with a pickmemom. Once I got sober, I couldn't live in that life anymore.

So, I've been on a bit of a journey of heavy duty therapy and self-help over the last four years. The reason I really like this book is that puts a pause between the triggered feeling and the response. It reminds me that I can't control my feelings - they happen too quickly and are automatic, but I stop and see where those feelings are coming from. And I can sit with my feelings until they no longer control my narrative. The weird thing is that the longer I sit and acknowledge how I'm feeling, the less they overwhelm me.

I also like how she has different examples of feelings and how they come up. In therapy, they actually had to teach me about what the different feelings were because I had spent so long sitting on them. And they had to teach me how to be angry - because I had spent my whole life denying that I was angry (and then I had to learn how not to be constantly pissed off).

I recommend the audiobook version because she leads you through meditations as well.
