Superior? No, not at all.

Sometimes screwed over by biology? Absolutely. I don't think it makes me a better person because I've fainted in a puddle of my own vomit due to severe menstrual cramping... and childbirth isn't perfectly safe (or fun), but if you live in a developed country it is pretty low risk.

Do I find what female biology and anatomy does fascinating? Yeah, because it is... doesn't make me a better person or mean I think people should wallow in the "woe is me being female is sooooo hard". Despite my severe cramping my OBGYN was able to get me sorted out very quickly, almost like there's an entire branch of medicine specifically intended for females only.

How about both genders are equal?

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

Fine, let me put it this way. Women have been oppressed for millennia and had and still have to answer to some impossible requirements. Do most of the house work, look after children if they have any and have a career. Because women have had to do so many things so that maybe the will be treated as actual humans and because men haven’t had to do any such things, it’s normal that women may be better than men, just because of the sheer amount of things they have to do and the expectations society has on them

But that’s the truth? Women’s value is determined either by her looks or by her unpaid Labour. It’s not the same with men

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

And men's value is determined by their sacrifices: they sacrifice their own safety in defence of those around them, they lose their lives at war, give up time with their partners and kids so they can go to work and provide for them... But because they're getting paid that's supposed to make it all ok? Completely ignoring that often the most dangerous roles in society also come at the lowest rates of pay. But if a man refuses to take on such a role, he's seen as cowardly and useless.

"Unpaid labour" isn't the trump card you think it is.

And you're seriously going to take the position that a man's value isn't affected by his looks? So the Chris Hemsworths and Tom Cruises of this world are just paid so highly because they're such good actors, right? And Marty Feldman was held back by a lack of talent, not looks? Get outta here.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Except that men put those things on themselves. They sacrifice their safety because of other men. Wars are again done by men. Men have made it up so that only them can be providers, while the women would stay home. Every last one of those things is the fault of a man. It is not even the same when talking about women. Men are hurting themselves, while women are hurt by men. That’s what you don’t get. Otherwise there are a lot of highly paid male actors that aren’t attractive, so your point again doesn’t stand. And men are let to be famous actors even when they are older, while actresses are considered usable only when they are young

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Wars are again done by men.

Not that simple

Men have made it up so that only them can be providers, while the women would stay home.

Again, historically inaccurate

actresses are considered usable only when they are young

Ok, so Joanna Lumley, Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Angelica Huston and Meryl Streep simply don't exist, right? Pretty misogynistic of you to ignore these women's success.

Your simplistic reading of women's contributions to Western societies is pretty embarrassing tbh.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

What’s not simple about the first one? When it is true. Otherwise it is historically accurate that men have made women be the main caretaker while they were the main breadwinner. Sorry that facts don’t care about your feelings. Otherwise exactly a lot of these women have said that Hollywood doesn’t treat women after 40 as human beings. Especially Meryl Streep, carry fisher, Sigourney Weaver and Jamie lee Curtis have talked about how older women after 40 basically don’t have an acting job anymore. So thanks, this just reinforces my statement

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

Did you even read those links? Clearly not as you responded far too quickly.

men have made women be the main caretaker while they were the main breadwinner

Are you aware of the the Factory Act (1833) and the Mines Act (1842)? These prohibited children under the age of 9 from working, and limited the hours children under the age of 13 could work. Prior to these, women and children were very much present in the workforce, often working dangerous, low-paid, thankless factory and mining jobs. Many men, women and children died doing these jobs, and thanks to the concept of male disposability (women and children should be protected at all costs, but not men), it was decided that children should be protected from these jobs. Notice how this only happened as recently as the 19th century.

By removing children from factories, this of course meant that someone had to stay home to look after them. Women took it upon themselves to do this, as due to breastfeeding etc they were just better equipped to carry out that role than the hard physical labour of the mines and factories, and they wanted out of these dangerous jobs. The point is, men didn't impose this on women in order to oppress them, it was a negotiation between the genders that has persisted for generations because it was mutually beneficial.

Feminism's false readings of history have blinded you dude. Don't believe their narratives. They are self-serving for the good of feminism only, not for women, who it degrades and infantilises.

ETA: And those actresses claiming women over 40 have no acting career any more are walking contradictions to that narrative. The double-think really is strong with you.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

My dude, women had to do those dangerous jobs AND be the main caretaker of the house. It’s called unpaid Labour. And we can also go before the industrial revolution if you want when women again had to do most of the or all unpaid Labour and help the men in their jobs. But again, it was MEN who made the concept of male disposability, because only the men were the ones even able to make decisions. And no, women didn’t volunteer themselves to look after the children, it was again men, because even before the industrial revolution women were the ones looking after the children. It wasn’t a massive personal choice by women, it was something chosen by men. It wasn’t a negotiation, women didn’t have a say in it, the same way they didn’t have a say in working in those mines. This is actual basic history, you are blinded by your hatred for women and are denying literally basic history facts. Women didn’t have a choice, their roles were given to them by men without even asking women what they wanted. So stop with this fucking false bullshit you’re spewing. And no, those women are just the exception, the majority of actresses over 40 don’t have a job anymore, which can’t be said about men

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Ok. Provide some evidence of your claims and I'll consider them.

blinded by your hatred for women and are denying literally basic history facts

Who said I hated women? Nothing I have said here even comes close to suggesting that, in fact I have defended women from the infantilisation that feminism projects upon them. Why would I hate women? There are so many inspirational women out there.

I think you are projecting your hatred of men, and that is clouding your judgement. What are you even doing in this sub if not coming simply to start an argument? You're not convincing anyone with your angry comments that lack any evidence or citations. Present your case "my dude", just kicking off in a community that is already against you is a waste of your time.

No there value isn't determined by looks or unpaid labor. Its determined by their personality. Hot it should be

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except that it isn’t, you can easily see it how it’s determined by their looks and their unpaid labour

[–]KissBumChewGum 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, but you do realize you can flip that same logic to support men being better than women right? Feminism is about equality, and if no equality, then at least equity... it’s definitely not about superiority.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But you can’t. Men haven’t done these things, women have. Until our Labour is actually equal and we don’t have higher expectations for women, then women will be better than men

[–]weewooIlikepoo2 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Labour is equal

[–]the-mega-sad 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

except it is equal and women are not better than men, you're just a sexist troll who doesn't have a clue about what he's talking about.
