A 17 year old teen is technically be a child, and having sex with a 17 year old is technically statutory rape, but you start to lose precision when you're being so strictly categorical with words.

It is a horrific, gut-wrenching abomination when someone forcefully rapes a 10 year old

It is morally wrong but far less depression inducing that a 17 year old man or woman might 'choose' to have sex with an adult for their own reasons.

Non-consensual sex is rape. The idea that a 17 year old cannot consent is also legally true. But it always felt strange to label these cases as 'rape' without qualifiers because it really isn't the same thing.

It always felt dehumanizing to me the way that we deny young adults any sense of autonomy

I support the feminist post and the men’s rights post, I think it’s important not to hate on the feminists (in this case) but rather add on to their statements :)
