Man, that's really sad. People don't realize how important it is for boys to have male role models - good on you for filling that role. Do you think you could maybe mention this to his mother? Obviously, it's a sensitive issue. But you could talk to her about how he really seems happy to have some male, adult presence in his life. A male relative who lives nearby, or a martial arts trainer, could easily fill that role.

Normally I would say that it's heartwarming to see a guy take his fatherless second cousin under his wing, but why the hell are they having baseball games right now? I doubt anyone in the stands is social distancing.
