Female empowerment is an overwhelming theme on television—movies, tv shows, commercials. It's everywhere. Women are powerful, women can do anything, women can be anything, they can cut all their hair off and dye it garish colors to prove how "strong" and "different" they are, they can be loud and nasty, they can proudly smear period blood on canvases and call it art, they can expose themselves in public, they can make out with other women in front of children in public places. It's so gross and offensive. I can't even watch anything anymore, all of my favorite shows have been contaminated. Commercials have to be muted, I have to screen anything before my daughter views it. Even on my favorite show, LivePD, you see the women and girls act like violent animals and it's just distressing. I don't want my daughter to grow up believing this is an acceptable way to act as a female. These female empowerment shows, movies and commercials are almost always created in a way that the woman's empowerment is at the expense of men, and it doesn't teach a good lesson. Not to mention all of the shows that portray the man as an idiot and the woman as a disgruntled, intelligent woman. The man can do nothing right, the woman can do nothing wrong, even when she's objectively wrong.

I try my best to mirror what true femininity is, because I believe it's important for my daughter to know how real women act. But I get drowned out constantly. It drives me crazy. I fear for her as she grows up.
