These guys bought their moms houses so much for raising kids is unpaid labor, but even the kids who don't often help their parents in old age. Why wouldn't that be "in kind" [payment? Why isn't this factored into the "wage gap"?

That was just over 1 page in a google search. There are more instances for those who want to look. Point being people will concede that there are non-financial benefits to raising children, but they insist it's unpaid. I don't believe it's true at least in most cases. I know a carpenter who fixes his mom's house when something breaks. Another guy shovels his mom's snow. I know quite a few guys who've helped their mom out with car trouble. Their moms never paid a dime even for parts. I would suggest that was payment "in kind" and of course the guys above gave their moms homes. It takes 30 years of work to pay off a mortgage. How many children take care of their parents in old age? I know several.

Why aren't these benefits calculated when we talk about "unpaid" labor?

Feminists have tried to have their cake and eat it too. They claim raising children is unpaid labor and caring for aged parents is also unpaid labor although I don't know why that isn't payment in kind. I also suspect women are the biggest beneficiaries of this payment in kind as they live longer than men, have children at younger ages (women marry older men more often than men marry older women), and have less money for paid carers.

My mom has worried about being a burden on me My sister is useless. When I tell her she took care of me when I was small, she would tell me,"Children don't ask to be brought into this world. It's a parents responsibility to take care of them."

She has a point especially if you believe in abortion rights and they are available. Oddly enough, this would include nearly every feminist in the west. My gut tells me that this factors into the conversation, but I can't seem to put my finger on just how.
