I might be retarded and not see the point they're trying to make but because some females "feel unsafe next males" that's why the rule is placed

Welcome to India (this has been in place in the Railway and bus reservation system). Funny incident: I was to travel overnight in such a bus service, with a female co-passenger in the next seat. The bus conductor said "You can't sit here sir. There's a lady in the next seat. You have to switch seats or the lady next to you should". I go, "No, I paid for this seat, I'm not moving". Conductor goes "It's company policy. Madam, would you like to stay in this seat?". The woman says "Of course, I want to sit next to my son".
