In many countries the government has the option of using conscription to force men, but not women, to join the military and die for their country. This is completely unreasonable and blatantly sexist.

As long as the draft exists for males only, women should not have the right to vote since they are not bound by the same legal obligations and responsibilities. Again, if the government deems necessary, males are legally obligated to give their lives for the country. It's only fair that men should get something in return for this, and voting rights make sense. If the government controls whether males live or die, then males should control the government.

Obviously women should have the right to vote as well, so I would propose the following ordered solutions. Number one is my most preferred solution, and number four is my least preferred.

  1. Abolish the draft system entirely.
  2. Make signing up for the draft completely optional so that men only have to sign up if they want to.
  3. Leave the draft as compelled for men, but allow women to earn the right to vote by signing up as well.
  4. Make the draft force women to sign up as well as men.
