He said she had not offered her resignation - which the ACT and NZ First parties had demanded - and he would not ask for it.

That's very encouraging to see those parties speaking out and demanding she resign. I don't expect it to happen but it sets a good example to show New Zealand and the world that treating men like that isn't acceptable.

To offer a balanced opinion here.. as someone who lives in New Zealand I would also be pushing for any minister who made a Misogynistic comment about women to apologize or step down from parliament.

The thing that Marama Davidson doesn't understand here behind her misandry and shield of "I have clarified what I meant to say" is that her words have a very real impact on many who live in New Zealand.

Her words:

"I am the (violence prevention) minister - and I know who causes violence in the world - it is white cis men.

Imply heavily that in this minister's view Cis White Men can not be victims of domestic or sexual assault because the minister believes that it is only Cis White Men who cause violence.

As a Cis White Man myself whom is also a survivor of domestic violence at the hands of a woman put in a position of power / authority over me and my siblings I find myself absolutely disgusted by her words.

She is essentially saying that because of my immutable characteristics I do not have the right to label myself a 'victim' of domestic violence.

What the (dis)honorable Marama Davidson doesn't understand here is that she is NOT the minister for women, she is NOT the minister for violence prevention against women. She is the "Violence Prevention" Minister and that includes men.

The fact that she made this statement openly and feels she has nothing to apologize for truly shows how entrenched her misandrist views are.
I mentioned this in another thread on the subject but the Human Rights Commission has received over 100 complaints about her comments and I hope more will come, I hope they will take these complaints and hold the (dis)honorable Marama Davidson accountable for her breach of human rights against a group of people.

Glad there was outrage, not surprised that although she corrected herself, she refused to even apologize.
