Hey everyone, not sure if this post is relevant to the thread but it's the only place I feel like I can post it and find some like minded people or even the right advice.

So today I'm 27, I work full time plus study so I'll be in class all day today but leading up to my birthday I've just felt really unappreciated. I support my relatives, female. Both financially and even stepped in to help them when they were facing homelessness and it just seems like whenever things are about me nobody cares, we went out to dinner last night and I had to pay for myself, my family seemed pissy that they were there, like they felt obligated to be there even though that's not the case. I ended up buying myself something just to do something for my birthday.

Everyone is always conveniently broke when my birthday comes around despite me being a financial provider for everyone all year round, the woman in my family have money to do things for the other woman in my family expensive things like travel vacations but never when it comes to me. I'm not saying I expect that, but something as simple as being treated to a meal isn't asking much.

This isn't limited to relatives, I feel like I make the effort to remember people's birthdays and be sure to make them feel appreciated on the day. But on mine it seems like I'm forvever having to remind people and basically ask them if they want to do something with me for it.

I'm just feeling really disappointed that I do so much for people and give so much time but the one day a year I expect anything, everyone either doesn't bother to remember or is always conveniently broke so either doesn't want to do anything or makes me feel bad for asking them to do something with me, even though I don't expect them to pay for my meal, I just want them to be there but they seen uninterested. But is it really too much to ask to be treated to a $15 meal or am I just being selfish here?

Either way it's just disappointing, I think next year I'm going to just book a hotel for the weekend and enjoy time to myself. I'm not a father but I've heard from alot of fathers that they go through something similar, just wondering if anyone else can relate and how do you help yourself feel less down about it?
