Do you really need to be cooperative to your ex after breakup if you broke up with her, I just don't want to get in any trouble if I do not comply to her demands. Will a family lawyer serve best ? or it would be waste of money as we were not married and not common law. Asking her for advice as it is a separtion

My ex has secured to put down payment for a condo and has a closing for May 31 2023. She assumed that I will not be buying any house post we sold our house as we separated out. Unmarried and not common law in ON, Canada

She now wants to port over the 2.64% interest rate for the next 3 years towards the new house and save some money rather than buying at the current rate. She was in the process and I was debating if I should rent or buy but had not made any call. She has now basically asked me to give consent so she can close the house and take the port over. I said I am giving away my opportunity of port over to you if I do decide to buy a house within 90 days of closing the current house on July 7th and I asked for some monetary compensation. She flat out rejected it and has following arguments:

  1. I broke up with her and ended the relationship

  2. She already has a house offer and down payment done

  3. She is financially more capable to buy a house and not on the fence like me

  4. She had a 54% down payment vs 46% of mine in our previous house but we are spitting everything 50% like bills tax etc for the old house

  5. I am not sure if I want to buy or rent and settle and take time to recover from the separation and then think to take additional debt. I have no family here and single income of about 100K. She has family, financial support and makes 2X of me

Shall I let her have the port over without any compensation and end it amicable or fight for it ? Is it worth to fight for 10-15K?

Note: Both of us are not in loss by selling the old house
