Do statements that contain phrases like “if you’re autistic” and “as long as you aren’t autistic” imply diagnosis?

I remember early in the mass internets history when it was a running joke that every nerd would diagnose himself with Aspergers or as autistic when they were really just socially awkward/introverted/nervous etc. Somehow 20 years later every under socialized young male (and an increasing number of females) thinks they have it.

I know a couple of people who work in the medical care field who were baffled and somewhat angry when they found how commonly people call themselves autistic (or even get diagnosed with it). "Actual" autistic people are basically mentally retarded and need caregivers to get through life - even high functioning ones who don't need them have a fairly difficult time maintaining a job or making it through average social interactions.

The reality is the vast majority of men in these spaces are not autistic, they are under socialized.

Most people here and in general are not autistic, they may have other issues like depression, anxiety, bpd, etc. They're typically not socialized or socializing in healthy ways. It isn't that they couldn't really learn how to socialize appropriately, it is that they haven't.

50% of self diagnosed "autistic" people today are just intellectually lazy dumbasses who cling on to the mental illness/ handicap/ disorder that fits their current problems most. For confidence/ trouble with conversating with people read books and it'll subconsciously make you learn some extra words and make you smarter at the same time. Gym/ going outside instead of sitting scrolling on the internets. Plenty of water and sleep will also bring down the anxiety. It's not their fault though for resulting to that since sometimes you get so accustomed to the way you live that those simple things aren't necessarily the first option that comes to mind when thinking about yourself who you are and what you could do in order to improve. i used to do that mental health labelling then realized i tried to cling onto some sort of label because i didn't like myself and thought something was inherently wrong with me until i started listening to others opinions more and realized i am pretty normal compared to 99% of the population.

Autism being a diagnosis made by a medical doctor will hopefully be laughable in the next 50 years or so.
