So basically it’s this movement influenced by the horned God figure in Wicca, this is the “wild man” archetype. This relates to the wild man in the Iron John or Iron Hans fairy tale. This involves taking something back from their mothers (the key under the mother’s pillow). It is also involves identifying with a spiritual male archetype (Warrior,Magician, King, Father…maybe Poet). There is a lot of Jungian psychoanalysis involved. The idea of toxic masculinity (that not being able to share your emotions) is supposed to have originated here. There is also this idea that boys are being feminized by the culture and need to embrace “rugged masculinity”. This idea of to be a man is to be one way only rubs me the wrong way. They have this term “deep masculinity” whereas I prefer a masculinity that is expansive; broad, encompassing.
