My daughter (4yo) is due to start school in September, however my ex wants to home school as she has been having 'meltdowns' at home and struggling with change. She is waiting for an autism assessment but this has not yet been done.
I saw a copy of my daughters' pre-school report and it was all very positive with no mention of the issues my ex has claimed. I have tried to plea with my ex to not take her out of school for several reasons. Firstly, my ex has no teaching qualifications or experience of working in a school in any capacity so I'm not sure my wife will actually follow through successfully with it. Secondly, I don't want my daughter to miss out on all the social aspects of school that she enjoys.
I am looking at speaking to a lawyer to see what my rights are as whilst my ex has full custody I have not given up my parental rights. My concern is that my ex has already given up her school place without consulting me. I am also looking at getting the Local Education Authority involved to try and push through an assessment of SEN but this maybe harder as I live in a different part of the country
Has anyone else had this issue and what action did you take to try and change your ex's mind.
Thanks in Advance
