Recently separated from my now ex-wife and still sorting through family plan. Currently we have a 50/50 care of our children. My work has been very accommodating with work hours. My start and finish times are all over the place but still fit in all my required hours for the week. One of my days I needed to take kids into work for about an hour before school drop off. They stayed in our empty training room which is above my office where they could look over the factory floor and play / read books. They loved it, was really cool for them. And a proud Dad moment to show them where I work. Whilst I couldn't directly watch them I could still hear them from my desk and they'd have to walk past where I could see them if they walked out or if someone else walked up. Anyway, casually told my ex about this and she flipped out. I didn't think anything of needing to tell her as I thought they where safe and under my responsibility. She demanded I don't do this again she's not OK with this its not an approved child care facility with police check etc and I needed to ask her permission. Can she really make these demands? Can I not make my own call when I'm watching them if they are safe? Do I really need her permission to parent my own kids on my share of the care? Located NSW Australia if it makes any difference.
