It could be argued that all routine circumcision is immoral even if religious. But shouldn’t even the people who do see religious exceptions at least be against the infant hospital circumcisions which, by the way, are not considered proper by the religions that practice it?

I bet you that most people who use “religion” as an excuse for circumcision aren’t knowledgeable about what religious texts say about it, and aren’t really viewing it through the lense of their religion at all. It’s interesting how the vast majority of Americans aren’t Jewish and don’t participate in anything other than random hospital circumcisions, and yet antisemitism comes to mind when this topic is challenged.

In other words, using the rights of a small minority (who the general population know very little about) to justify the actions of an ignorant majority.
