You probably won't find it worth the trouble to prosecute the assault, unless it was aggravated with a weapon or something which it doesn't sound like is the case. What it will be useful for is a bargaining chip your atty can use to get you a better settlement.

After you or she file for divorce the records will be available at the courthouse. Your atty should take care of this for you but you can definitely save some money if you're already at the court by picking up and delivering anything your atty might need.

You're both on the hook for the mortgage if you're both on the deed. You might need to live there alone for a year and get the place ready to sell as the court rolls on, the judge will likely order it sold unless one of you buys the other out.

She's in a bad spot now and will get desperate. Be ready to face a fusillade of guilt and shame from everyone she can get to yell at you, plus likely false allegations of violence and SA if nothing else works. Keep a copy of your police report handy like garlic to these vampires and ask them if they really believe victims or they just believe the woman no matter what.

You are both jointly and severally liable for the mortgage payments. It doesn't matter if she lives there or not, you are both liable for ensuring the payments are made (assuming both names are on the mortgage). Definitely see a lawyer immediately on Tuesday, though.

You'll also need to be working full time ASAP. It sounds like you have good experience and the new year is usually a good time for hiring.

Also, you paid for her whole education and most of the house. If she wants to play it fully 50/50 even with that (not unfair if it was all accrued during the marriage) then go for spousal support/etc in return. Play hardball, the ball is at your feet with the domestic violence/etc.
