So I've made multiple posts on this sub showing off how the Helluva boss fandom has a massive double standard about domestic abuse and how it parallels the double standard in real life but for those who haven't seen those posts, helluva boss is a black comedy web series that is about overcoming trauma and abuse and for a black comedy it does a pretty good job portraying domestic abuse and how it can effect their victims. So far the show has portrayed an abusive wife with Stella, portrayed an abusive dad that isn't the super annoying "Alcoholic dad" trope with Crimson, and recently portrayed an abusive Boss/father figure with Mammon and the way the fandom reacts to these 3 abusers is vastly different:

After Stella was revealed to be abusive (Which was over a year ago) the fandom started rapidly criticizing the way they handled her character by saying it's "Bad writing" that Stella doesn't have all these super complex reasons for abusing her husband Stolas, saying she should've been "Sympathetic and justified," think it's "Lazy" that Stolas is an innocent victim and think it would've been better if Stolas was also abusive twords her, says it would be better if Stolas did something to Stella to make her abusive, defending her actions, and says she's "Poorly written" because she only exists to make Stolas more Sympathetic and likable. (Which is exactly what an antagonist is supposed to be)

Later, the show would reveal Crimson and how did the fandom react to his execution? Completely different! I've never seen someone who wanted to sympathize with him, say it would've been "Better and more interesting writing" if his son was also abusive twords him, say he is "Poorly written because he only exists to make Moxxie more sympathetic and likable" and very rarely do you see someone say it's "Bad writing" that he isn't complex and when you do see someone say that they only say that they want him to be complex to "Prove" that they don't have a gender bias

Recently the show revealed Mammon and how does the fandom react to his execution? Just like how they reacted to the way Crimson was executed, they're completely fine with him making Fizzarolli sympathetic, completely fine with him not being sympathetic, nobody is defending his actions, and I've only seen one person say that he's "Badly written" because he doesn't have all these super complex reasons for abusing Fizzarolli.

Now Stella, Crimson, and Mammon are all horrible people realisticly written but the fandom's reaction to them are all completely different. Crimson and Mammon are male abusers and the majority of the fandom is fine with them being 1 dimensional, their victims being 100% innocent, and them not being sympathetic but as soon as you give them a Female abuser it's suddenly a writing issue that she isn't super complex, an issue that Stolas is an innocent victim, and a very "Misogynist" issue that she isn't sympathetic (Yes, I've seen multiple people say that the way she is written is "misogynist" because she isn't super complex and sympathetic and all of this parallels the double standards that society has about domestic abuse.
