If you work for a decent size company please look into your HR policies for EAP or Employee Assistance Program(s).

Some of the things they may help you with is filing Short Term Disability and FMLA.

These are specifically to protect your job and help pay you while you take time off work to process things, or have to attend court.

They can also have things like the following;

Helping prepare for a divorce Legal advice Therapy (my company offers 6 free sessions for me, and 6 per child per situation) Updating legal documents such as your will, retirement, etc. helping you find affordable housing (this one I’ve seen in the past but I don’t know how viable it is if at all.)

We are all apart of this sub because we are going through a major life event. Some of us have children, some may not. We all come from different walks of life and not everyone’s situation is the same.

I hope this helps someone, EAP has helped me with some of these things and I felt it was worth sharing
