Californication is only worth watching from a learning game perspective because Hank Moody demonstrates a lot of good-game behaviors and attitude. Other than that, it's not real life.

No washed-up, functional-alcoholic, 45-55 year old single dad writer who's hung up on his ex will pull tail like that, even if he looks like David Duchovny. The real life version of Hank Moody is a lot more unattractive and pathetic, rather than roguishly charming to women who are sick of lamewads.

Now as the shows you mentioned, the problem with those shows is that women are unreliable narrators about what they want and how they want it, the same way Californication is an unreliable representation of the way men are and what they want. They're written to appeal their audiences, which is why Hank Moody has dimes constantly throwing themselves at him, and why he's just bad enough to be a "bad boy" but not so bad that he's unsympathetic. Every "bad" thing he does, there's some mitigating circumstance or excuse.
