I was dating a woman for a few months when due to reasons out of our control, it went long distance. I was ok with it as long as we could see each other once a month or so (which we did). We would talk on the phone multiple times a day and text and I think this much interaction caused her to feel like the intimacy was gone and we were more like friends (which I felt too). So on Thursday we talked briefly and ended the relationship but since the call was so brief (it was on her drive to work) I offered to FaceTime that night just to talk more about it to which she agreed. To be fair, she had said she needed space weeks ago but she was still calling/texting me daily so I went along with it. In hindsight, I should've backed off when she originally said that.

So I text her later if she’s good to FaceTime but she has gone out with a friend to get her mind off everything so I suggested tomorrow (Friday). But when Friday came it seemed a bit too needy and insecure to text her again about a FaceTime call so I just didn’t send anything and we haven’t talked since Thursday night when I asked about the FaceTime the first time. Plus, the whole needing space thing was on my mind and I didn't want to keep chasing.

My question is, is silence on my end the best course of action? I do love this girl and it was a mutual breakup but I feel like I want to have “one last face to face conversation” with her. I don’t know, I guess the phone call when she was driving to work felt too abrupt for the intimacy we had and to just disappear from her life after sharing so many moments feels kinda mean. She's a very emotional person and truly a sweet girl that didn't do anything "wrong". But at the same time, my over-pursuit is probably what made the relationship feel like a friendship. I’d love to rekindle things down the line but don’t want to end on a bad note either.

Do I just wait for her to contact me? Should I wish her happy birthday next week? I feel like I’m abandoning her and creating bad vibes by not attempting to reach out. But at the same time, she never texted me about the FaceTime call either and it feels like I should stop chasing.

Thanks
