I know it is normal to talk about your sex life with your friends. But is it normal to talk about your sex life with your friends without asking your partner if it is ok first?

In real life my friends told me that their girlfriends asked them what their privacy boundary is before talking about their sex life with their girl friends (eg if they are ok with it or not) but from reading reddit posts, it seems it is something people just talk about without establishing boundaries first.
