It's not about avoiding making her uncomfortable. It's about recognizing the discomfort and adjust accordingly. If she seems comfortable, escalate. If she seems uncomfortable, back off a bit. It's a game. A back and forth. How perceptive are you to how she's feeling? This is a test of your social skills and how much you care about her feelings

Start by just having some minimal physical contact. Touch her shoulder, make your legs touch each other or something really small like that first. You'll see if she's comfortable with that.

It's good to be in a venue where you naturally move around alot since it makes for natural situations to touch each other. It also allows to move to a couch or something where you can get even closer. Don't sit by a table on the opposite side of each other, that shit gets stiff quick.

Once you're physically closer to each other you can really do anything. Hold her hand, put your arms around her or whatever. Just maintain physical contact. If you reached that point you're pretty much done - she's comfortable with you. And getting more comfortable by the minute, too, if you keep maintaining physical contact. Of course it depends on the context but in your experience what's a solid way of escalating to either precipitate physical intimacy or test whether they're interested, that's as least likely to make them uncomfortable as possible?

There are a whole host of easy things to do which can elicit a response from a girl that tells you where she's at. Most of these are overlooked by people who are trying to build up their skills.

A.) Low intensity, non-sexual or friendly behaviors which nonetheless people will respond to.

Shaking hands when you meet them.
Fist bumps, high fives, sidearm jabs, etc.

B.) Incidental or accidental contact Which doesn't happen intentionally but which still leads to a reaction from the girl in terms of whether or not she adjusts her personal space in response.

Like accidental leg contact while sitting next to her at a table or accidentally brushing up against her while walking next to her, etc.

A really overlooked skill is paying attention. You need to be paying attention and really tuned in, in order to have the best information to act on.

We are talking about a social interaction which requires you to be receiving as well as transmitting information.

What you're looking for in terms of response is not something complicated. It's as simple as noticing someone's basic physical reactions to things that are happening.

Is she leaning into physical contact?
Is she leaning away from or flinching away from physical contact?
Or is she neutral? This one is the tricky one. It requires you pull back repeatedly until she finally does give a reaction one way or the other.

There's obviously no guaranteed way. At the end of the day, all this is a screening process.

Some people won't know if they're interested or not until after hanging with someone.
