It depends on what looks good on you, some colours look better on olive skin compared to white skin etc. You also want to dress in a way that compliments your body type (if you're in shape you can dress slightly tighter to show that off)

I'm naturally very white (less pink and more olive) but with my outdoor job I tan very quickly and pretty dark, I prefer to wear white t-shirts over black because I find it compliments my tan better and makes me stand out more.

You want most of your clothes to be in neutral colours (cream, beige, subtle colours that are closer to white or black) because this way they always look great together. My mate is great at this, try searching mens smart casual or something for ideas. Stuff like the classic black jeans, white top and a denim jacket. Or grey jeans, white top and beige jacket. It's so effortless. On nights out I like to wear black jeans and a navy shirt, sleeves ALWAYS rolled up.

Hope this helps, remember what I said about neutral colours and and observe what other people wear, it can be really hard to get good fashion inspiration by looking at literal models who are basically advertising outfits that don't work with the rest of your wardrobe, so pay attention to everyday people you think look stylish. Instagram is good too.

If you can, go shopping with a mate who knows about fashion. Buy neutral colours and layer that shit up. Layering is huge and it's why you want all your clothes to look good with each other.
