Ask her where she got that jewelry/ those shoes. And then pretend to be interested. After that you can say “ where do you recommend I go for ….( haircut, sandwiches, museum, live music)”? Then, let her talk about herself. Just interview her. Say things like “where are you from? How long have you worked here? Do you like it? What would you do if you weren’t a server? “

Just a word of caution - too many times "wild dirty look" (or however you phrased it) isn't what we think it is.

Best way is to be sure is man up and talk to her. Just "how we doing today?" could get it started.

Why I say this is a few times a mistook a "look" for what it wasn't. Girl I thought was "giving me the look" later confessed she was trying to focus on holding in a fart. Another told me she was moments away from pepper spraying me, but at the moment I thought she was indulging in mental fantasy with me. (This is months after we became friends she told me)
