Thanks for any advice with this, anyone. = ) Ok, I notice a trend happening these days. If you are able to tell me if this is just me, or if you think something I am saying isn't accurate in your opinion, please go ahead and explain. I want to know

I notice that it's getting harder to simply joke around with girls on the street, or strangers in general these days for that matter. Since young people are so lacking social skills the more time goes on and the more they live their lives through their phone, a lot of girls are quite not used to interacting with random guys (as in being approached) in real life. Sometimes I have tried to simply put a smile on a girl's face in public by saying something amusing or doing something a little silly. Nothing that she needs to respond to, simply trying to get a good reaction and get her to like me that slight bit. Often it is met with being stared at like I am a crackhead, or simply a blank stare. I normally say 'hey miss', get her to look at me first, wave briefly, and then say something that (I at least think) would be funny to her.

It is as though they are trying to figure out if I am mentally ill, and why some random guy would do something so 'out there'. Because I am so non-fuck-giving about what others think of me, it has the effect of actually being confusing to them it seems. It also leaves me feeling like these girls just have no sense of humor, are not very comfortable around strangers, or both. Either way, I think they live in a world where anything that is outside of a normal conventional greeting must surely mean that I'm on drugs, or drunk, or something like that (which I am not when I do these things).

The upsides of doing something goofy or silly to get her attention: 1) putting a smile on her face and not being perceived as as much of a threat anymore quickly 2) you aren't asking her a question, it's low pressure, simply for her amusement, and she can say or do nothing if she wants 3) it shows you are able to handle pressure and are relaxed/confident enough to make a bit of a fool of yourself potentially. If indeed it works, it is a great start to an interaction

The downsides are: 1) always the good chance she's just gonna think you're mentally ill, or on substances 2) I am well aware if you over-clown for too long it doesn't work, but there is the risk even if you do it the one time she might dismiss you as just some clown it seems, and 3) you are essentially guessing what her sense of humor is, and probably failing a fair deal of the time

My question to all you other guys (and girls) who may be reading this: is it just a bad idea to try this sort of thing? Would my luck be better with some other sort of opener that simply gets more to the point or whatever and is more serious? Again, I would never just stand there and act nuts for the whole interaction by the way, I'd do something funny and then get to my point soon after, but I wonder if there is something to this I should consider or if perhaps I just have had bad luck running into girls that are either having a bad day or just have a stick up their ass lol. Ideas? Thanks again
