Sad truth: We are a product of our environment.
Even harder truth to swallow: Most of our habits and beliefs are rooted from when we were little kids.
So what does this mean? Well, it means that if you had a less than perfect childhood, like most of us, then you most likely have some negative limiting beliefs. I'll go more into this later and give a personal example. For now, i'll explain the science of why these beliefs are so hard to change.
When we are born, we are a clean slate. Our primal instincts in this age are to survive while our brains develop. When we are babies, up until about 2 years old, our brains are in a Theta state of vibration, which is equivalent to sleep. We are basically unconscious. After that, our brains go into an Alpha state; the equivalent to a light meditative trance or daydreaming, we stay in this state until about 7 years old. When we are 8 and beyond, we are primarily in a Beta state, this means we are very aware of our surroundings, and it gives us the capacity to reason and solve problems.
Theta and Alpha states are important because that's when we are susceptible to "hypnotism" or suggestibility. This is what hypnotists do, they put the conscious mind to sleep, and leave us in a theta wave state. In this state, because our conscious mind is not awake, any suggestions that enter our mind are impressed onto our mind. AKA: when we are kids, we are constantly being hypnotized by our environment, parents, friends, etc. If you were bullied as a child, you are more likely to be shy, or if you had strict parents who disciplined you physically, you might also be shy or timid, it all depends.
When we are young, we also don't have the capacity to reason, so anything anyone says to us is taken literally. If you have a parent who tells you how dumb you are (even if they are not serious at all) the you will believe that you are dumb if you hear that on a regular basis. It's scary and most parents don't realize how much harm they caused their own kids.

Then, we have the news and mainstream media. This makes great content for a different post, but basically, t.v. nowadays has a certain bias against men. They want to pussify men, it's extremely evident in commercials, that's why I don't watch t.v. anymore, because if you expose yourself to this shit too often, you are going to embody what they want to plant in your mind. Be careful, this is one of the reasons for the Beta/Cuck male epidemic. Anyway, onto my personal examples and solutions.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So my personal example: My parents are both from Central America, the culture there is much different than it is in the United States, which is where I was born. Over there, physical discipline is normal, for one. The women are much more submissive to men there, they don't have as much confidence that some American girls have. My parents put a lot of value on raising very well behaved kids, thus I turned out very well behaved because I used to get smacked with a belt. Some of my friends have told me that's child abuse but it is what it is.
My parents used to tell me the importance of being behaved, and treating women with respect and not being a "player". Not that theres anything wrong with that but it made me put girls on a pedestal and prevented me from being myself and expressing personality with confidence.
When I got older, about 12-13 I got bullied emotionally and a bit physically as well. Two years I developed social anxiety and neediness from people. I have never experienced any serious anxiety until then, and it was devastating. I used to be very friendly and outgoing with people, but after I got bullied, I was shy and introverted. I was still young and naive, and didn't know how to stand up for myself so I believed everything that was said to me. Slowly, I crawled out of this mental prison, and some effects still linger, but I will overcome these limiting beliefs and behaviors and reach my full potential.
My trauma from middle school and goodie goodie way of being raised turned me into a docile little pussy, I am disgusted with the way I behaved before, and as I'm writing this, I'm feeling rage towards my parents and the kids who bullied me, but mostly my parents. But you know what, the only thing that I can do is better myself and let everything go. My parents raised me to be a very good kid, just a little wishy washy, but that has changed. Now, on to the solutions or any negative programming you may have.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some kids had parents who fostered confidence in themselves, others had parents who physically abused them, or did horrible things to them. There is always room for improvement.
The first step I would say, is to analyze your upbringing, and observe what values, if any, your parents lived by the most. What kind of kid did they want to raise? My parents wanted to raise a well behaved child, but failed to think longterm and what that would mean for my adulthood.
Next is to understand how your mind works.
Think of your personality as a sort of idea that your ego has made up. Your ego uses memories from the past to interpret how you should act in the moment and in the future. Behaving in a way that contradicts this will cause fear, anxiety and uncomfortable emotions. This self-image is located somewhere in your subconscious, the subconscious holds all memories EVER, theyre just lodged so deeply in there that you don't remember and will never resurface some of those memories. There is scientific evidence that everything you've ever experienced is recorded, one doctor did brain surgery on a women who was still consicous, just under heavy sedative drugs that left her numb. He stimulated a part of her brain with cotton and in that moment she relived an experience from her childhood. She didnt see it in her mind, or imagine it, she RELIVED it, smell, taste, touch, all sensations, everything. Pretty cool.
How to change your self-image:
- Visualize with emotion
- Subliminal tapes
- affirmations
- meditation
- Act as if principle
This is a long ass post so im going to make another going in depth on each of these. Cheers.
