Mate your thought process is all over the place! Calm down (although I know how uselss this piece of advice is!).

I feel with yourself there are a few areas you could improve which are not even related to seduction. You are clearly doing an immensely good job recovering from depression and you should be very proud of this (trust me I have lost multiple family members who never made it through).

However there is a long way to go! I am no expert but here is my take:

be more comfortable with your job. You are not just a security guard, just like she is not 'just' a nurse. You would not apply this logic to others so do not do it to yourself!
the fact you work where she lives is a mute point. Just be wary of your approach (maintain some professionalism) but do not let it deter you. Currently I feel like you are using this as another excuse not to ask her. This in turn makes it seem like a bigger deal (we all do this!)
you need to come to term with your past. I do not know what to suggest here, maybe a therapist? You clearly have a lot to offer and you need to realise this. Everyone has had problems in their past but you should be proud of this. Again beating depression is something to be proud of instead if being ashamed you had it at all!
confidence does come with experience. Unfortunately you will have some pain getting this experience but embrace it and learn. You will always be progressing so long as you reflect on every situation. With this take each rejection or failure will be beneficial (although it will still hurt)
get some new friends/re-kindle the old ones. Depression is horrific and I have first hand experience of it's effects on relationships. However a good key to your recovery will be to retain a strong social circle. Work on this definitely as it is key to your own happiness and therefore success with women :)

I really am no expert but this is how I would approach the situation!

In regards to asking the girl out... I don't know. When she comes in one day and gives you the same vibe call her over casually and suggest going for a drink. Just be honest, nothing to be embarrassed about and if she is in to you then she will be happy to hear the request. It sounds like she has probably been waiting for the invite for some time!
