Welcome to Vancouver!

Yaletown during the week on mornings is mostly going to be coffee shops.. and professionals going about their day, lots of small tech companies and agencies, a couple of niche, high end stores, etc. It's a ghost town, really. You see tourists checking out a few restaurants and things like that but very few locals (exception: those working in those stores). Your best bet is to head to the yaletown seawall and chill there, but it will be tricky to make conversation with those walking their dogs, jogging, etc.

Weekend mornings, especially when it's nice and sunny (summer is amazing), it completely transforms. Most of the restaurants and coffee shops have patios, they're packed with beautiful happy people (or those pretending to be). You'll see people walking their dogs, renting bicycles to go ride the seawall, or just lounging and sunbathing on the many parks by the water. The restaurant district itself will be bustling, the shops and boutiques will be full, but again, it's not a single's scene - these are couples, families and friends/tourists looking to spend money / catchup / eat / etc.

You can always approach though, everyone is generally pretty friendly, even though the neighborhood has a reputation of being pretentious (heads up: it certainly is, sometimes). You'll be able to spot yaletown locals vs. yaletown visitors, and recognize a few people. As the saying goes, once you move to yaletown, you never leave.

Yaletown though, is for weekend evenings. The bars, nightclubs and restaurants really open up. Restaurants will have lineups w/ bouncers! They're all the same: overpriced drinks and food, an upscale flair and an attitude, but that's why people like it. It's packed with singles, usually in groups, looking to have fun. There are over 50 restaurants and bars in just a few blocks, so there is no shortage of options.
