Think of it this way. Regardless of the size of the university, are you going to see these girls regularly? For example, let's say you're in the engineering school. If that were the case, you would see girls in the engineering school regularly. However, on the other side of campus at the psychology school, you probably would not see girls regularly. Or perhaps you're in some club. If so, then you will see girls in the club regularly, Or is the girl in your social circle? If so then you will see her and her friends regularly.

In cases where you're going to see a girl regularly, you can still cold approach, just use the college approach and don't try to number close the first time. It isn't necessary because you're going to see them again anyway. If you're not going to seem them regularly, then just cold approach the regular way. Using these methods you won't create a bad reputation because (1) with the college approach, you add girls to your network and get with them over time and (2) with situations where you don't see them regularly, no one is going to know you're cold approaching girls anyway.
