I met a 21yo HB7 barista at a house party on Saturday. During our conversation, she offhandedly commented on my red+white checkered shirt.

Her: "Haha! That shirt makes you look like a picnic table."

Me: [reframe] "Wow, are you a jerk to everyone you meet, or just me?"

Her: "OMG, no, I'm not a jerk! I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that."

Me: "You can make it up to me by grabbing me another beer."

I handed her my empty cup and she went and got me a beer from the keg. I got her number, and according to a female friend of mine who was in the vicinity, this girl was definitely flirting with me.

On Sunday morning, I text her and suggest we grab a drink "today or tomorrow." She responds with "sure!" and I leave it at that until Monday morning, when I texted her:

Me: "Any plans tonight?"

Her: "No plans so far."

Me: "There's a theater company doing a short play at a pub. 7:30pm, tonight."

Her: "Would you mind terribly if we just saw a movie instead?" [movie date? yawn!]

Me: "Yeah, We can do something else. It's not a real play though. Per the rules, the play has to be shorter than the time it takes to finish a beer, and the characters must be drinking. You sure you want to skip it?"

Her: "Ok, you sold me. Where should I meet you?"

This is the theater pub play I took her to.

I got there a little early and made friends with a group of 2 girls and 1 guy sitting near me. She found me in a fun convo with them when she arrived [DHV?] and when I introduced her to the group, I got some strong IOIs from one of the 2 girls in the group [also DHV?]. After introductions, her and I withdrew to our corner and didn't interact with the group any more.

At this point she pulls the "I don't have any cash on me... can I borrow some money?" line. I don't really know what to do so I say "let's go get drinks" and buy her a drink. I end up buying all her drinks the entire night. [what would you do in this situation?]

Anyway, the play turned out to be super lame. We snuck out about 20min after it started. She was a good sport about it, though she definitely teased me about how it was my fault.

Her: "There's a wine bar about ten blocks away that's good."

Me: "Actually, I know a great bar right around the corner."

And so off we went to my bar. In hindsight, I'm not sure if I should've given in instead of suggesting something else. We grab drinks and sit down on the couch. After an hour of deep convo and kino, the k-close happens.

Her: "I need to use the restroom. Could you move?"

Me: "Sure, but you'll have to give me a kiss first."

Her: "What?? Absolutely not." [she grinned, and her tone wasn't serious]

I reached around her waist and gave her a kiss. She was into it, and I pulled away first. She went off to use the restroom.

I'm not proud of having to use an excuse to kiss her... But man, first kisses are hard.

Shortly afterwards, I tell her we're going to the wine bar she suggested. We have a nice walk, plenty of teasing back and forth, and energy is high. We sit on a couch at the wine bar, cuddle, and engage in some peoplewatching. There was a couple sitting across the bar.

Me: "Aww, look, they're on a first date."

Her: "How do you know?"

Me: [some bullshit about their body language]

The guy grabbed the girl's hand, and I grab her hand under the table. She says "Are we going to do everything they're doing?" and I didn't respond. Not sure if she was into it.

We have some more great conversation. At one point, we make a bet on whether her silver laptop back home is a Macbook or a Macbook Pro -- loser has to cook dinner next time. We agree to grab coffee the next morning and settle the bet there (her idea -- she suggested it).

It's 12:30am and we've been hanging out since 7:30pm -- 5 hours. She says she's tired, so I close out and we grab a cab together (we both live in the same direction). We cuddle some more in the cab, and I'm dropped off first. I give her a kiss good night and on my way out of the cab:

Her: "Coffee tomorrow, right?"

Me: "Yup."

Her: "10am?"

Me: "Yup. Night."

And at 9:59am this morning, I get the flake text: "Raincheck on the coffee today. Maybe another day when it's not raining and freezing cold." I didn't respond. That's literally a last-minute flake with a terrible excuse and no suggestion for future meeting.

[ok really, seduction aside, who cancels without any advanced notice?? I was planning on being late so I hadn't left yet anyway, but for all she knows, she stood me up!]

Anyway, I'm thinking I'll get back in touch in a week or so to feel it out, but I'm really curious to hear what seddit thinks happened here.
