This is my first field report, and I'm writing because I don't think I'm the only one in my situation.

I went out with 5 friends, having a good time. I used to have difficulties with OCD which basically means I'm experienced with over analyzing stuff.

I thought the night went slow since none of my friends seemed eager to meet any girls. That, or they were too shy. Anyway, I had to get some girls to join our party and saw this gorgeous girl with her friend. It was pretty crowded and I noticed how they were looking for somewhere to sit.
I tried to wave them to us, but they didn't see my gesture and walked past me trying to locate another place to sit. I got up and told my friends to make room and then went off to get them back. I met them and said something like: me: Hey, it seemed like you were looking for somewhere to sit nr1: what? me ( including number 2 by holding around her, and talking to both): I said, it seemed like you were trying to find somewhere to sit. Join our booth and get to know new people! (I'm not native English, so maybe this sounds different in english, but I wanted them to understand that I just wanted to be friendly and introduce them to new people).

They said ok and I walked towards my table without looking back, assuming they were following. When I was there, I turned around and saw the cute one had joined me, and the other one went somewhere else. ( I didn't like the idea that this girl was all alone with a bunch of strangers, but I introduced her to my friends, and went to the bathroom hoping she wouldn't run away). When I came back, she sat next to my friend but he was holding his arm around her, obviously hitting on the cute girl only I had the balls to talk to. I tried to break things up, and test the waters by asking him if he wanted a beer, which I owed him, but he declined, which told me he was going for her. I also asked her where her friend were, and she told me she went of somewhere. I was kind of pissed, but I wanted to seem relaxed and said OK and went to get a beer. When I returned, I sat next to her (she's between me and my friend). She asked me if I found the girl, which turned out to be her older sister. I wanted her to understand I was just curious and really wanted to get to know her. She is younger so I thought jedi mind tricks shouldn't be necessary one her, and simultaneously multiple thoughts are going through my head that throw me of my game: Why the fuck do I have to compete against my friend over a girl? Am I just going to let him have her without a fight? I decided to not give up without trying. I started talking to her and teasing her. She was younger than me and I teased her age. I got some IOI's back, but I kind of interpreted them as attention seeking signals from a younger, more insecure girl. I later saw her giving them to another random which confirmed my first impression. ( She touched me multiple times on my arm, smiling, being focused on what I', saying and laughing.) I realized she liked my attention as it was no problem for her to drop my friends conversation when I talked to her.

Suddenly a wild group of girls appeared and talked to her. While they talked, I tried to organize an afterparty with my friends. When the girls left I tried to invited her, but she didn't hear what I say. I told her that I couldn't repeat it because it was perfect the first time I said it, just to tease her. She said whatever, and turned around to act as if she didn't care. I picked up her test and didn't nudge. She ran out of patience and turned back to me and wanted to know what I said. (Now I'm thinking, it's on, and if my friend wasn't competing, I would've seduced her to a kiss-close easily). Now I included my friends and told her that if her friends wanted to leave we should all join forces and go to the after party,( again to get to meet new people!). She didn't respond too much, and I decided to not give a shit anymore, I didn't like all the attention and glorification she got from both sides, me and my friend. My competitive friend saw his window and got her attention again (JESUS it's hard to balance being a friend and trying to hook up with a girl!!). She left (probably because two guys are passively trying to hook up with her) and looked for her friends. Now, I didn't care about her, but I din't want my friend to run after her and do some magic.

Skip an hour, and about 30 minutes before closing, I see my friend having his arm around her while him and the girl are talking to a random guy, Alex. I know that as a wingman I should talk to Alex, but I wanted Alex to do my job and cocblock my friend. I went in tom fight or flight again and got up to join their conversation. I got to know Alex, who I discovered to be a musician that invited us to his conserts.

When my friend left the scene I talked to the girl and made a stupid joke to get her to focus on me. I knew I had to do something quick before my friend turned up again and gave her my cell phone. She asked me: What is this. Do you want my number? me: yeah, of course... She typed it in and I semi saved it by almost calling her. The place closed and I found my friend creeping on the exit door, waiting for her. Outside I told her: I'm going to call you tomorrow, is that going to be awkward for you? I didn't really get a reply because my friend showed up and got his arm around her and started a conversation. I wanted to seem confident and get a "haha, no, that's cool :) " from her, but he blew it.

Now, she didn't go home with either of us, and I talked to him about how idiotic it is for to friends to compete over the same girl and he agreed.

I sent her a text( about 04:00 am, an hour after I got her number): Hey, nice meeting you tonight. I'll meet you later if you're not going to Alex concert ;) hello_fitte.

Alex was inviting her to his concerts and we had a talk about it. I wanted to heckle her about somethin, but I could'nt figure out anything that could work better. Now, it's 05:13, and she hasn't responded. She's probably asleep, and Ill update tomorrow.

So, that's my night. I hope reading this makes sense and if you have any suggestions on how I should've treated this matter differently I'd be grateful. I hate competing with friends!!
