So some background information. This was an interaction that happened this past week with an acquaintance of mine. We have known for each other for a few years because we were teammates and I know her body language when she's open to or declining flirting. She is also the type of woman that would tell you to quit it and physically take your hands off of her if you hug her for too long.

Anyways, she passes by to a meet that I am officiating at because I coach at this former high school of ours. I return to the bleachers after I finish and I see her at my team camp. She's alone so I approach her. I recently heard she went through something so I ask her if she's okay, I heard what happened. Her face lightens up and we end up speaking for the entirety of the meet. Note, our vibe together was way different than before. It seemed like we had a natural and instant romantic connection. All the while, I was escalating. I was passing her shit tests, I put forth about 10% of the conversation and I kept escalating kino. Even in front of her younger friends that are still currently on the team she would have no problem with me brushing my hand up and down her inner thigh starting with a hand resting on her knee and walking around the park her, me guiding her movement with my hand resting on the small of her back. At one point she even pulled me alone so she could cry and vent. Fast forward to the end of the day, it takes us nearly a 30 minute long awkward car hug for us to say good bye. I make sure she comes by practice the next day, I bantered, we both said we didn't want to let go or part ways, she keeps telling me how great today was and etc. I closed with a kiss.

The next day, I ask her for a date at x at y time. Then she says "Oh blah blah blah blah insert her opinions of me here and she ends with telling me that she kind of just started seeing someone. I respond with "oh, well, thanks for your time, I have to go tend to my athletes." Then I went to do my own thing.

What the hell happened? I'm not bothered by the outcome, I'm bothered by how all of it unraveled.
