A few days ago I wrote up a post on the power of eye contact. In that post I shared a couple of stories of it in action. I was thinking about it today and I forgot to share a story about a time that showed me the power of eye contact the most.

So here's the story...

I was standing at a cross walk waiting for the walk signal to turn to walk when a girl and her boyfriend walked up from behind and stopped to the left of me a little ahead of me. I presume they were boyfriend and girlfriend because they were holding hands.

The girl was cute, but not hot. She had sort of an innocent look, but something about her was appealing.

I noticed them, but thought nothing of it. She then turned her head and looked right at me. I noticed it out of the corner of my eye and naturally looked back towards her as she turned her head back forward. She then turns back again towards me and we lock eyes.

Now here's the critical point. In the old days, I would have immediately looked away because hell we are two strangers and people generally look away. However, pumped up on all the eye contact I had been getting all day, I held it as she did too. We literally set there for about three seconds and just looked into each others eyes. She seemed completely calm and just held it.

Right as the cross walk changes to walk, she blurts out, "Are you going this way?" It was obvious that I was and I could tell she had no idea what to say and just said something.

I was rushing to get back to work so I immediately began walking and said "Ya, the walk signal is on". Note, I didn't really know how to respond because I was so caught off guard by the situation and question.

She lets out a huge smile and says "Ok, sounds good!" I kept walking and went back to work wondering what the hell just happened.

After a while it hit me that a girl just opened me. All I did was maintain eye contact and displayed solid body language. I didn't even have to say anything.

I've been thinking about this story and kicking myself for all the missed opportunities in my life of random girls I've been around on the street that noticed me and liked what they saw and nothing came of it.

Eye contact is a great way to circumvent this problem. First, its a mutual IOI. When a guy and girl hold eye contact for a length of time that deviates social norm on the street something is going on. As long as she is not giving you the stare of death you should make use of this opportunity or maybe as was the case with me she will open you. I have another story of a girl who I caught eye contact with and held it that actually stopped me and asked me some random question. I didn't even think about it at the time, but I probably should have capitalized on the opportunity.

The second thing it does is it invites social interaction from both sides. I think extended eye contact is a green light both from her and yourself. It makes you so much more approachable and establishes an initial connection that instantly makes the social anxiety of meeting a stranger less stressful. I am so much more confident when I maintain solid eye contact with a girl, as I said in my previous post, because I am out of my head.

Anyway, just wanted to add in that story. Eye contact has completely changed my life both with women and in general (business, friends, etc.) Good luck to you all with women and life in general, take this tip with you and go get laid!
