It's a convoluted story, but let me put it simply: I work at a coffee shop, and there's a food stand a block away I frequent for lunch. There's a cute girl who works there who started bringing me free food. So I ask if she wants to get a drink sometime and we begin an annoying cycle:
Step 1: I drop by casually
Step 2: She initiates that we should get that drink by asking for my number or giving hers, or whatever
Step 3: I get excited, give her my number or get hers, etc.
Step 4: She never calls, her voicemail is full, etc.
Step 5: I get awkward and avoid her for a week until I repeat step 1.
And it kept going like that; I'd be super-casual and she'd send out signals until things didn't pan out. The last time I tried to get together was a month ago, when I called her and we made plans to get drinks later that week. I called her the night we made the plan, and she doesn't answer. I felt like an idiot and took her number out of my phone.
I've avoided her work and haven't seen her in a month. I feel that was the totally mature thing to do, but I'm still feeling annoyed; I want to know what this girl's deal is. I know when a girl's not interested, and she'd been sending definite signals. But I kind of want to go down there and say "I'm cool. You seem cool. Let's hang out already."
