Background: I'm a 25 year old gay man. I started learning pickup techniques 4 years ago while I was still in the closet by working with a friend to pick up women. Now I use what I know on men. This is my first field report so I'm sure to leave out important details about the night. If I do, just tell me in your comments.

Tonight I was invited to go downtown with an old friend we'll call Joe and a few people I've never met before. Within the first few minutes of meeting them the new guys were making homophobic comments. I told Joe to let them do what they're going to do and that I'd play it straight for the night. He went with it, so I got to fake being heterosexual.

We started the night out with wings. We ended up having too many people to seat right away, so while our waitress prepared our table I dragged Joe over to the next table over to talk to 3 lovely Asian ladies (Joe has a bad case of the yellow fever) directly next to where we were going to sit.

We had a few laughs and began talking about shoes. It was right about then that we got our table. It turned out that one of Joe's friends worked for a shoe store and actually knew his stuff, so I wasn't all alone in the conversation. I invited them to join us to continue talking. We ordered and then played around with the girls by trying to distract them and steal their food, take a bite and then offer it back and by joking that they didn't look old enough to be ordering off of anything other than the kids menu.

The conversation drifted toward an unexpected avenue at this point. Joe's shoe store friend mentioned that a lot of gay guys hit on him. The girls convened and decided that it was because he "has the sort of face that gay guys want". They then went right down the line and rated each of us based on how much they though gay guys would hit on us. Funny enough, they said that I look too much like a manly military person to attract men (Protip: a lot of guys go for exactly that. If I were to done it, it would have been quite different). Joe got a few IOIs for saying it's a compliment to be hit on.

We finished up our food and told the girls that we were planning to go downtown to the club owned by Joe's brother. They agreed to meet us there and we left. We went home, had a drink and got all gussied up. Then we went to the club.

When we arrived, two of the three Asian girls were dancing near the doorway. We walked past them, meeting their eyes but saying nothing, and went to the bar. Joe's brother greeted us all with hugs and poured us shots. After having a couple, we said hello again started dancing with the girls. It quickly became obvious that Joe was interested in the HB7 one of the two, so I got all of his friends to dance with me and the remaining Singaporean HB8. I positioned myself on the edge of our circle and gradually edged everyone else away from them, leaving him in a position to finish the job. Once Joe's friends realized what was going on, they went for a smoke and I danced with the HB8 for a while.

At this point, I got a chance to brush up on my game on women. I danced and with the HB8 for a solid 40 minutes, gradually moving closer to her and eventually caressing her as we danced. We didn't do a lot of talking because we were right next to the speakers. The HB8 asked me if I was looking for women to go home with. I lied and told her that I have a girlfriend and won't be doing anything other than dance and flirt a little.

Joe's brother broke up the monotony by arriving with a megaphone that he had stolen from a police car parked outside and getting all of us to shout song lyrics into it. We danced for a few more minutes after this and then decided to head home (It was 3:40 AM by this point). Joe had the HB7 isolated long enough to get in a kiss and her number.

All in all, a successful night.
