At fault? Not really, shitheads who think they're protecting a girl's honor are everywhere, and they inevitably jump into white knight mode when you start succeeding with a girl that has them friend zoned. That said, you didn't handle the situation as best as you could have.

Squaring off with the guy was your first mistake. A beta male will have to show off, in this case by trying to start a fight, to "prove" to everyone around him how tough he is. An alpha male knows he is tough and doesn't have shit to prove to anyone. Squaring off with the guy, ironically, is a very beta move. If it were me, I would just firmly take his hands off me, but say something casually to indicate that his actions didn't affect me. "Oh, no problem, me too." or "Really, where is he?" Just something to break the tension and hopefully show this guy that you don't consider him worth the fight.

As for the events after being kicked out: You were being an idiot and you know it, so I won't bother berating you about it.

I can't say without seeing how you were touching the girl. It is possible you were a bit too handsy and it is possible the guy was just over-sensitive. It could be this really was his best mates girl and he was looking out for his friend when he saw his girlfriend cozying up to another guy. Think about yourself in that situation. Your out with your best mates girl and some guy has his hand on her like you had your hand on her.

When you think about it like that, you shouldn't really have gone into "fight mode".

Sound's like the other guy over reacted if he leaped across the table and grabbed you. He could have just come and told you. I probably (I say probably because I can't say 100% for sure until it happens to me) would have pushed his hands off me and told him not to touch me, acknowledged she had a bf, then started talking to the girl, trying to ignore him as much as possible.

To be honest this guy should have been having a go at the girl, not you. She was the one at fault.

As for you escalating as you did, that sounds good. Doesn't sound remotely like you got too handsy. When you want to fuck a girl you need to get pretty 'handsy'.

You should have isolated her from the cockblockers. If you're ejected, move on to some other venue.
