For a young subreddit like this massive downvotes is completely destructive and divides people and spreads negative feeling, the advice should be the opposite. You should upvote more! I completely disagree with you, this is just bad advice.

People should be upvoting more.

The downvote is reserved for terribly offended posts and wrong advice, not for something you "dislike"

  • Upvote threads that are helpful, relevant, or just generally good.

  • If you disagree with a thread, or do not find it helpful, do NOT DOWNVOTE as it can be helpful to someone else. Just leave it be, the good content will float to the top by itself. If everyone just upvoted and didn't downvote things would be fine. Downvotes also discourage posters from posting and reduces the amount of good content on here.
