I was talking to a friend tonight and he told me about a girl he had been trying to game a bit. She suddenly got a bit upset and told him he was flirting a bit too much with her and that there was a boundary between being a friend and how he was acting. He hadn't done anything wrong he had just come on too strong and it scared her off.

If you never have that happen to you then you probably aren't ever pushing hard enough. I have this problem myself. I don't want to offend or scare the girl away so I walk on egg-shells and I don't push the interaction far enough.

Since you aren't going far enough, you need to practice going just a bit too far. You need to get the feel of how far you can take it before it breaks. It will teach you to calibrate. Right now you are too soft. Find out what is too hard. Then work towards the middle.

I think maybe it is because the girls I am talking about are the ones that I have know for a little while but had never used kino escalation on them. So I guess I am more like a friend they flirt with... So they don't think of me as anything else. Is there any way to create attraction in those situations? They always seems so interested...

Sounds like it could be one of the following:

A) your timing is off

B) you're falling for beta bait

I strongly suggest you learn how to physically escalate while testing for compliance along the way. Vin Dicarlo's Kino Escalation Ladder is a good start. The smooth escalation will help with A and the compliance tests will avoid B.
