i've been exploring the "talk to everyone" rule and the "detach yourself from the outcome" rule with excellent results. i take transit to and from school and don't usually talk to people but yesterday...

  • i met a guy whose friend is a dj for the bc lions (local football (cfl) team in vancouver). he was with his friend who was wearing louis vuitton jeans and a gucci sweater. they were going to a birthday party. what happened was that i realized that i needed a reason to talk to people during my commute. so i decided to approach this cool looking guy and ask him how to get to some random destination. he was friendly and told me how to do so, and we got to talking. i made up a story that i was from washington dc, and he turned to his friend and said, "hey, this guy's from washington dc!" i had family over there, but i never lived there. in any case, he looked like someone who would be impressed by rich people, so when he told me his dj friend got him into some mansion parties (he also told me that will smith had properties in west vancouver and an equestrian estate in langley) i told him that my friend's dad worked for goldman sachs and had a huge mansion-surprisingly, he knew what the company was!

  • i met someone who got his master's degree in sweden. apparently post secondary education is free over there. i also learned from him about the results of the denmark election (we were talking about the far right wing in sweden, a tradeoff considering i'm from racially harmonious canada and reddit likes to masturbate over the efficient and clean and egalitarian countries of scandanavia (the liquor store closes at what time?!?)).

  • to get to school, i take a local bus, then a train, then a rapid bus, then another train. the bus route from my house to the train line is usually not busy but this morning it was jam packed. i told the middle age asian lady next to me this and noted that maybe it's because of gas prices. ($1.40/L CDN or $5.40/gal US) she opened to me that if her whole family took the bus, the passes would be expensive. i reminded her about the costs of car insurance and she agreed.

  • the train system had an breakdown early this morning and transit security told me many people stayed home and took the day off. the bus to school, an older lady hopped on the rapid bus and sat next to me. she had a small lv purse and looked asian. i asked her whether the train was crowded and apparently she wasn't affected by the backup since she used another train line. i found out she worked for a boutique property management company (ie they help rich people get rid of their commercial real estate) and was a few years from retirement. i forget what we talked about but it was far-reaching, about the tar sands, learning mandarin, real estate, her job... this is the crowner. this hot asian girl (ok, it's just a coincidence that there are so many asians in vancouver) wearing over the knee boots with leopard skin inner lining got off the bus with me. i saw the older woman jaywalk along with a couple of others, so i told her, "those jaywalkers are going to kill themselves one day. i should have a camera with me wherever i go so i can record the carnage." then i imitated filming a horrible wreck, screaming "holy shit, look at all that blood!" and you know what? she didn't blow me off! she smiled and laughed a little.

lol, i guess you could call this a field report. no sex, no kisses, no numbers...

some things to think about:

  • approach everyone, not just rich people, not just asians, not just white girls. it's not a big deal. that being said, i have been meaning to network myself into a more affluent circle, because you never know when it might help you. also, i want to go to some mansion parties.

  • don't talk over people, at all. i noticed that i do that a little, and i also talk too fast. both of these things are going to bite me in the ass when i go sarging to pick up girls. instead, give them open ended statements and let them talk, but talk a lot yourself if you're going to demonstrate value. and be subtle about it-it's ok to boast about your friend's mansion if you're talking to a guy, guys being guys, but don't do it if you want to pick a girl up.

wow, this is a lot longer than i wanted it to be!
