Move to askseddit.

My thoughts though:

You did the right things. Don't worry so much. You commented that it was cool she had something fun to do. You said you were not sure of what you were doing.

The only thing that could have been different is if you had something fun to do and that you said something like, "oh, too bad, I am going to be doing X and was going to invite you haha".

It seems as if you think that you should have said you could go. That would have been wrong. Don't ever invite yourself along.

Although I guess you could have said, "yea that sounds like fun, tell me more." If you had said this then she would have gauged that you were interested in the event and invited you. Since you played aloof and she wasn't sure she decided not to take the chance and invite you although she may not have invited you anyhow.

Something I have thought about lately is that we can show interest by how we answer. Always being aloof doesn't accomplish the goal but showing interest and asking more shows we are interested in the topic and then they can do what they will with that information.

Anyhow... over to askseddit please.
