I am in a similar situation. I wouldnt text her a lot to seem needy, but definitaly touch base around holidays such as christmas, or new years plans. You are of course an awesome person with a lot of things going on but you are squeezing in time for her.

Free advice: You are looking at this completely backwards. You gain interest in person, and then don't lose it over the break. You don't gain interest while she is away.

She has already judged you, ranked you against all the other boys in her life, and knows where you stand. Texting won't really change that.
