Or, y'know, the whole Christian movement was fabricated by combining the Mithraic Mysteries and Gnosticism, probably by the Roman elite who wanted to find a way to quash those pesky Jewish uprisings and get the sons of Abraham to starting rendering unto Caesar without a fuss.
