I'm 24 years old, and I have an eclectic taste in music. The first CD I ever bought was Millenium, by Backstreet Boys in 1999, 13 years ago. I recently recovered it, and had it in my car.

I've been riding around with my best friend (female) and my wing (also female), and every time they absolutely love it when I play that CD... They are 21 and 18 respectively, so back when the CD came out, they were between 5 and 8, so they nostalgia hard when they hear it. That said, this isn't the point of the post;

Last night, I ran into a girl from my apartment complex out downtown, and her ride had bailed out on her, and she didn't want to drive because she had been drinking a little, had an outstanding DUI, and didn't want to risk driving, so I told her I could give her a ride back when I left.

We ended up leaving, and I had the music playing (Coheed and Cambria), and she asked what else I had (AFI, La Roux, Flyleaf, and BSB), and she freaked out when I told her I had a BSB CD, so we played it and sang along the whole ride home, obviously some kino there. We got back to the apartment complex, I invited her up for a cig, and we were out on my porch. She said she couldn't believe I had that CD, and that it absolutely made her night reminiscing over them.

I told her I had them on iTunes, and that we should load it up on my computer (which is in my bedroom), and she was all for it.

I'm still working on my game, so I didn't escalate, and some other stuff came up later that night, but I was pretty stoked to have gotten her to my bedroom to begin with... I just need to learn to take the next step.

Anyways, the gist is, most girls, when they were kids (6-10) were into boy bands... having a CD can help you utilize nostalgia, which is a hugely powerful emotion. In 10 years? Yeah, you better be rolling with that Bieber CD when you're hitting on 20 year olds.

I'll be doing some more work with this in the future, if it keeps getting positive results, I'll post some more.
