Hey there seddit. I've been lurking a while, and have found a lot to like about the development of "inner game", as it's so appropriately called. I'm new to the entire realm of PUAs, and am cautiously dipping in a toe.

In any case, I've been doing reading, finished up Carnegie's "How to Win Friends & Influence People", and decided on a whim to crack open my copy of Musashi's "Book of Five Rings" that I bought ages ago, when I thought Japan was possibly the coolest place ever, period. I was surprised to find some rather apt wisdom in there, and am wondering if anyone else here has found some nuggets of gold in non-PUA-centered literature? If so, mind sharing?

Other bits I've found today:

  • "A man must not assume another man's uniform or armament is an indication of his strength." - IE, we cannot rely on looks alone in order to push forward.
  • "A man cannot understand the perfection and imperfections of his chosen art if he cannot see the value in other arts." - IE, focusing entirely on one hobby/aspect of your life cripples you in growing in it.
