I know this should probably go in r/askseddit, but it doesn't seem to be as large and active, and therefore less diverse in opinions and/or experience.
Anyway, I've noticed that when I'm out, I don't approach chicks very often, but not because i'm nervous about doing so, or becaus I don't find them attractive. If anything, I'm just kind of... apathetic about it. My usual thought process is "hey she's kind of cute... eh, whatever".
While I am a little concerned they might not find me particularly interesting, I'm much more concerned that I won't find THEM interesting. 100% of the girls I've been involved with I either met online through dating sites and thus could screen out those I didn't find interesting, or I learned through the grapevine that they were interested in me. I think it's obvious how well these worked out for me.
I also don't like walking into any situation blind, and I don't like wasting my time; nothing throws me off my equilibrium faster than finding out that I spent time and energy for nothing.
I don't want to keep doing this, but I don't know how to stop either. It sucks! This is far from my only goal or motivation in life, but I'm getting kind of tired of catching myself reaching for someone that isn't there when I wake up in the mornings.
