The key is to not think about it too hard. Texting and FB game can be a good or a bad thing because you have plenty of time to think. That being said, you have plenty of time, so don't always answer shit right away. You have stuff to do too, right?

anyways, here are my thoughts on this subject. in general, you should have an easier time talking to people the less personal the method of conversation is. the heirarchy looks something like: facebook, twitter are the least personal, then texting, then phone convos, then face-to-face interaction is the most personal. it is a good thing you are comfortable with the face-to-face because a lot of people is terrible at it since they rely so heavily on the facebook bs.

ill give you some simple keys to follow - if you are texting with someone you are interested in, always err on the side of being flirty. doesn't have to be every text, but think of the big picture answer to "what am i trying to convey to her?" (e.g. that you are interested) and text based on that. part of the art of this is to say things that are completely open to her own interpretation and have a back and forth dynamic, for example (if she's already interested in you and you are trying to convey you like her):

YOU: we need to hang out this friday HER: ok :) what do you want to do? YOU: i can think of a few things... ;) [she will choose to interpret this sexually or not sexually] HER: like what? ;) [she likely interprets it sexually] YOU: well i was thinking of dinner, and you can find out what the other things are for yourself

anyways, in your case, i don't know what "not too far away" entails but know that most people end up going separate ways after vacation encounters because of the physical distance barrier. girls guard themselves in this situation because she doesn't think she will see you again. if you really want to up your chances, you need to go out on a limb and even if you have no reason, find some excuse to be visiting or passing through her part of town and tell her as soon as you can that you will be through on XX day/days and you want to get together. this will let her know that she has a definite chance to see you again

it is a win-win, if she takes you up on the offer then meet her, and if she doesn't, then you can just stick around anyway. but the key is finding a good excuse (some local conference, event, trip) to tell her you are going to and that you are passing through. i'm a huge proponent of being direct, but it will hurt you to be direct this early because you don't want to send off a wrong vibe like you are some stalker.
