I'm fairly new to this sub reddit, I only come on it every now and again since joining a few weeks ago so excuse me if I don't know all the lingo yet.

Basically, when I walk my dog, a white japanese akita, women tend to come to him, speak like a baby to him and stroke him of course, they always ask for his breed and age and such, but there is always an awkward silence in between. I hate talking about my dog as if I'm some big know it all but thats how it feels i come across as.

Is there any way for me to make way into small talk and maybe eventually a name or number if I'm lucky?
