I just moved to LA a few days ago. I'm by no means a PUA or any good with game at all, but I learned something last night that I wanted to share with you guys because you guys have shared so much with me. So, before I get into it, I just want to thank you guys on Seddit for opening up and giving guys like me (someone who is awkward, average looking, and has crippling social anxiety) a fighting chance. Also, this is my first FR so please forgive me if I don't do something correctly.

The night started when my two buddies came up from San Diego to visit and see my new place. My new roommate invited over our neighbors (two HB's a 7 and 8) who brought with them two of their friends who were also visiting (HB's 6 and 7). Just to give you guys an idea, this is usually the point where I start drinking heavily because of my social inadequacy and sit brooding in a corner hating myself. Last night was no different... at first. After the obligatory introductions I grew quiet and watched as my friends pulled off this sorcery, commonly known as social interaction, with these girls. I was so on edge and nervous that I actually knocked over a beer, making me look like even more of a loser in front of everyone. I was so ready to write off the entire night and retire to my bedroom to fap and cry (most likely at the same time). I don't know what happened. I wish I could tell you what clicked inside my head, but something hit me and I decided to turn things around. I was in a new place, with people who have no preconceived notions about me and I was determined to not be the same miserable person I've been my entire life. I started talking... to everyone. I didn't have anything particularly interesting to say, but it didn't matter, it was a small victory and at least I wasn't sitting quietly. I had all these ideas of what LA girls were like and how incredibly difficult it was going to be to talk to women out here. Well after a few minutes of conversation I quickly realized that most people who live in LA are not from LA and talking to people here is no different than talking to people anywhere else.

We decided to go out and took a cab to really swanky LA bar that intimidated the hell out of me. I stood around awkwardly for about 30 seconds when I saw that there was an open seat next to one of my neighbors. Usually I would have let one of my friends take it, because after all, I didn't have a chance in hell anyways, right? I walked right over and sat there like I owned that god damn seat. Another small victory. I immediately started chatting with my neighbor. I used one of the lines I got from Seddit "What's your favorite dinosaur?" and another one "If you could have been born in any era, which one would it have been and why?". Did her eyes glaze over and did her panties drop? Obviously not, but I was talking to a woman (sorcery, I know) and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I made it out to be. To make this long story short. I completely fell for this girl, realized we had a ton in common and talked to her for about 20 minutes.

We left to go to another bar, but my group decided to separate from theirs. At this other bar, another horribly intimidating LA bar/club, I sat down and fell into another one of my horrible habits, which is falling for one girl and thinking about her to the point where I have already named the children we were certain to have together. Here is my small contribution to this community. I let one success build upon another and decided that the only thing to do when I was love struck with a girl was to go and talk to... MORE GIRLS. A crazy simple idea that had never occurred to me before. I went around and talked to as many girls as I could. I got shut down a bunch of times, but I didn't let it get me down. Finally I met a HB 7.5 who was there with her friends. I kept talking or more accurately I kept her talking (people love to talk about themselves, right?). I didn't use anything special, no routines or anything, but everything I said, I said with an energy that was calm, collected and confident. I used a line that my roommate gave me... when she asked "What do you do?" I said "I'm in the iron and steel business... my mother ironed and my father stole." She laughed and it was a way to get around having to qualify myself to her. After talking for a while I tested another line you magnificent bastards gave me... "It's been fun talking to you, how do we do this again?" Worked like a charm. She wrote her number down on the back of my bar receipt.

Sorry for writing a novel, but I hope this inspires someone to go out tonight (it is a Saturday after all) and just give it your best shot. Stop reading material and just go out and do it. It's the only way you will get better. Stop making excuses. Don't worry if you have no idea what to talk about. Don't worry about getting shot down (you will, it's not that bad and you'll survive). Don't build it up to be so difficult, just go out and do it. You may surprise yourself and something good might actually happen. It did for me.
